Bypass pressure compensator valve
Description
Bypass pressure compensator valve with integrated pressure limiting function in screw-in cartridge design with adjustable or fixed pressure compensator spring. The task of the bypass pressure compensator is to keep the pressure drop constant via a throttle point (e.g. control edge of a proportional directional control valve) and to direct the excess volume flow to the tank at load pressure level. It ensures that, at a specific position of the control spool, a specific quantity of oil, independent of the load pressure, flows through the downstream throttle point. Due to the integrated pressure limiting function, the bypass pressure compensator also acts as a pressure limiting valve in the system. Bypass pressure compensators are mostly used in fixed displacement pump drives in conjunction with proportional valves, but they can also provide constant volumetric flow control when used with orifices or throttle valves. The corresponding system is commonly referred to as an OCLS (Open Centre Load Sensing) system.
Application
Bypass pressure compensators are used to control the volume flow independently of the load pressure at the consumer. Cylinder or engine speeds remain constant. The excess volume flow is channelled to the tank at load pressure level. This results in so-called 3-way current controls. The integrated pressure limitation function also limits the system pressure. The adjustable pressure compensator spring allows the user to optimise the system directly at the installation. To safeguard valve settings, the adjusting screw can be fitted with a tamper-proof cap. An adjustable version is also available. These features allow the bypass pressure compensator to be adapted to changing pump systems, such as fixed displacement pumps (OC systems) or pressure-flow controlled pumps (LS systems). This is often the case with towed mobile machinery. For machining the cartridge cavity in steel and aluminum blocks, cavity tools are available for purchase.
